Vasa Restaurant Salisbury MA

Vasa is the new waterfront restaurant in Salisbury MA just across the Merrimack River from Newburyport.

I met with owner Sean Toomey and head chef T. J. Bernard and did some views of their Savory Mussel bowl, Boston Strip Steak with Roasted Potatoes and Oyster Mushrooms, plus the Vasa Wings with Spicy Honey Garlic Glaze. When you get there you can start your meal with their specialty drink “A Shore Thing”.

Back shooting at Birch on Elm with Chef Nick Provencher for a new review by writer Dean Johnson for Merrimack Valley Magazine.

This time Nick served up a Grilled Endive with Shaved Fennel and Charred Blood Orange Vinaigrette. Check out the Flank Steak with Rutabaga Puree and Grilled Scallions.

For dessert have your choice of Drunk Cherry Cork or the White Chocolate Panna Cotta.

Codex is the Speakeasy styled destination in Nashua NH.

It takes a little time just to figure out the entrance and I have given you some hints here but you will find it well worth the effort.

Check out their specialty drinks and especially the Codex Espresso Martini.

Photo shoot with Y Sok (pronounced “E Soak”) on her visit back to Lowell MA.

She produced her recipe for Sauteed Duck and Tamarind Sauce with Thai Basil and Chilies for Merrimack Valley Magazine in the Jan/Feb 2017 issue this month.

Y says it is a popular dish at her restaurant the Angkor Soul in Marple England.

Tavern in the Square located in the Cross Point Towers complex at 900 Chelmsford St. Lowell MA may be a little hard to find but might be worth it.

I shot a few of their specialties with a Cobb Salad, Bistro Steak and Parmesan Truffle Tots plus their Raspberry Peach Sangria.

Wrapping up my views with Holiday Chef Rick Gianelly head chef at Orzo Trattoria in North Andover MA with his Insalata di Baccala (salt cod salad).

For desert I visited Yalla Grill in Methuen MA for some Meghli with Dalia Fakhry and her Mother Hiam Abourjeili.

Meghli is a savory rice pudding with anise, caraway and cinnamon, garnished with shredded coconuts and cashews.

Her favorite for the holiday is hearty Polenta made with cornmeal, marinara sauce, kidney beans and sausage.
