Enterprise Bank Celebration of Excellence 2013 and Guest Speaker Bonnie St. John
Enterprise Bank had their Celebration of Excellence this week.
Enterprise Bank’s Celebration of Excellence was created as a way to honor amazing individuals by providing them with the public recognition they so richly deserve.
Also in attendance was guest speaker Olympic Medal winner Bonnie St. John.
Bonnie spoke on her personal struggles and despite having her right leg amputated at age 5 had a career in ski racing and was an Olympic medal winner at the 1984 Paralympics in Innsbruck Austria.
Astronaut Portrait in 5 Seconds
Shooting for the SAN (Satellite Agency Network) Convention this week at the DCU Center in Worcester MA.
I had the opportunity to meet and photograph their motivational speaker Colonel Rick Searfoss, former top gun pilot and astronaut space shuttle commander.
After his talk I was able to have a few brief seconds, literally 5 seconds, to capture him by the window for a quick portrait on the fly.
Manchester NH Boys and Girls Club Breakfast
Spent a nice breakfast at the Manchester Boys and Girls Club fundraiser at the Center of NH.
I was invited by our table Captains fellow Photographer Althea Haropulos and Graphic Designer Kal Roberge and with our table host Makia and Camila.
We enjoyed a quick bite, a fast paced program and saw one of our own NH Creative Club members Illustrator Jeremy McHugh featured in the program video.
Wonderful morning for a great cause.
Legendary Locals of Lowell MA
Authors Richard P. Howe Jr. and Chaim M. Rosenberg held a presentation and book signing to a packed house for the Legendary Locals of Lowell at the Lowell Pollard Memorial library this week. I have a particular interest in this history of my hometown as over 20 images of mine are used from views taken over the years. One particular Local on page 94 may catch your eye. My Father Ken Harkins (pictured here lower left) was noted for his community service to Lowell. Amongst his favorite charities RARA (Recreational Adult Resource Association) held a special place in his heart.

Argo Tony Mendez A.K.A. Kevin Harkins
Have you seen the movie Argo yet? The real Tony Mendez made a presentation at Middlesex Community College Wednesday. Along with his wife Jonna they delivered a great story that is the Great Escape of my generation. One of the strangest coincidences was learning about Tony’s code name, it was Kevin Harkins. What are the odds?

Saturday Mornings with Rex Trailer
If your grew up in the Boston area as I did Rex Trailer’s Boom Town was part of your Saturday Mornings.
It was like having Roy Rogers teaching you the Cowboy way in your hometown.
I remember watching his TV show getting up early having the house to myself.
Back in 2008 Middlesex Community College had guest speaker Jay Leno and as a suprise to Jay, Rex Trailer visited backstage.
Jay brought him on stage to preform the Boom Town theme song.
This week Rex passed away but I will always remember those Saturday mornings.
